An Inspirational Way to Tackle the Menopausal Blues
Every once in a while, an idea pops up that makes you say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” A couple years ago, a blogger named Caitlin Boyle had an idea to empower women. Her idea was straight-forward and simple. She decided to launch a one-woman operation to lift the spirits of women, strangers who would stumble upon her messages of hope, gratitude and encouragement.
Armed with a pad of post-it notes and a pen, she began leaving anonymous messages on public restroom mirrors, on beauty products in drug stores and anywhere else where she could get the message across to women of all ages, races and occupations that they were beautiful the way that they are. This one woman pursuit turned into a national movement and a best-selling book entitled, Operation Beautiful.
When I first started following Caitlin on her healthy living blog, I didn’t know anything about Operation Beautiful. I didn’t realize that so many women evaluate and, in turn, give themselves failing grades more often than they praise the gifts and talents they have been given. So, why am I sharing this with you?
The General Gazette’s mission is to engage our readers. We aim to encourage you, no matter where you find yourself in your life, whether it be approaching menopause or leaving it behind. We want you to live the best possible life that you can. Encouraging each other is what makes a woman’s role in society so unique. We have a common sisterhood even when we are strangers.
Operation Beautiful has made it possible for women dealing with menopause to share experiences and encouragement without being intrusive or critical, just like we hope to do with this website. After reading Caitlin’s book, I went out and bought a post-it pad and started spreading my own messages. I would like to share some with you and embolden you to do the same. You never know who your anonymous words may touch.
This note was posted at a Home Depot. I like to hit up unsuspecting places!
There is no shame is dying your hair. There is no shame it letting it be natural either.
This one is my favorite. Remember, we aim to empower all ages.
Now it is your turn. Go out and beautify the world with your wisdom and inspiration. Making someone else’s day brighter, will make your days brighter, too.
