Getting your body back after a pregnancy should be easy right? I mean those celebrities that have babies seem to be back in their pre-baby jeans days after giving birth. Even a couple of women in your child’s kindergarten class had babies right around when you did and they look great. Too great. Those little bitches! Sorry, that was uncalled for. Clearly, some animosity exists.
Why is it that some women seem to bounce back from pregnancy so fast?
First, don’t compare yourself to celebrities. If you feel you must, consider new mom Jessica Simpson. She has publicly announced that finding her way back to the body she had before giving birth to baby Maxwell has not been easy. “My Body Is Not Bouncing Back Like a Supermodel,” she has admitted.
However, Simpson is the anomaly of celebrity moms. The truth about celebrity moms is that they typically don’t gain as much weight as the average non-famous person and they have many resources at their disposal immediately after the birth; trainers, nannies, nutritionist.
Second, some women follow crazy diets that are unhealthy for their recovering body. Realistically, the amount of time it took you to put on the weight should be the amount of time it takes you to take off the weight.
Okay, that is all fine and dandy, but how do you do it? Diet and exercise. There isn’t any magic solution. Diet and exercise are the factors for obtaining your pre-baby body.
Diet
As was mentioned above, crazy, unrealistic diets will not produce lasting results. The best way to lose your baby weight is slow and steady. Utilizing programs like Weight Watchers make it easier to stick with a plan that is healthy. This is especially important if you are breastfeeding.
Planning weekly meals is also a way to prevent the last-minute scramble to find something to eat which usually ends up being a hot dog. Planning out your meals will help eliminate last-minute bad food decisions.
Intense hunger can also lead to poor food choices. Aim to eat 5 – 6 smaller meals a day to keep your blood sugar stable and your metabolism high.
Exercise
You do not have to carve out two hours of your day to get fit. You also do not need to have personal trainer. All you need is the desire to get fit.

Before You Begin
Make sure you talk over your diet and exercise plans with your doctor first to make sure your body is ready to begin its journey back to its former self. Starting too fast can result in set-backs that make you feel defeated. The key to losing weight is to feel empowered. Be gentle with yourself and consistent in your attitude. You will see results!
